Who is this guy?
This blog is the randomness that emerges from me, BJ Neilsen. I’m a software developer and graphic designer who’s been working in building completely stellar Web Applications and Interfaces for over a decade. This blog was created mostly because I wanted a place I can write inspirations and insights that come my way (hence the name of the blog). As such, you’ll often see posts pertaining to life, happiness, family, business, and occasionally some xkcd or Charlie the Unicorn will sneak in a cameo or two. I also have a tumblog (via tumblr) at localshred.tumblr.com where I post a lot of randomness, and any posts that are more in-depth programming related are at my professional blog/portfolio site rand9.com (coming soon).
I absolutely love Rock Climbing and am always looking for ways to skip out of work early to do more of it. I love to play the Guitar and hang out with my awesome family. Being active is a big thing for me, so I really enjoy doing anything that gets me out of my desk chair and moving my body around: Soccer (Go RSL!), Cycling, Running (occasionally), Hiking, Camping, etc. I also love anything related to good design: Apple/Mac/iPhone, Photography, Super modern interior/exterior design, Feng Shui, Zen, etc.
I’m currently* doing Java development for public agencies to manage RFP’s and such. My real programming passions come out when I’m doing anything in Ruby/Rails or Objective-C/Cocoa. I’m sometimes open to doing side work or consulting for software or design projects. Those interested in contacting me with project work can get in touch with me through my professional blog/portfolio site rand9.com.
